5.2 Category access permissions
Managing Category Permissions and Visibility
You can control category access for specific roles within your DAM.
Manage Visibility Across the Entire Hierarchy

Select Role
: Choose a role from the dropdown menu.

Grant or Remove Permissions
: Hold
Shift
and click on the top-level category to apply permissions across the main category and all its subcategories.
Manage Visibility by Category Level

Select Role
: Choose the user group you want to assign permissions to.

Set Permissions for Each Category
: Define whether the role has
Read
or
Write
access for specific categories and their subcategories.
Permission Levels

Read Permission
: Users can view uploaded materials but cannot upload or edit.

Write Permission
: Users can upload and edit materials, provided they also have general editing/upload permissions enabled in
User Management -> Permissions
.

Write permissions are ideal for Editor roles, letting you grant editing access to certain categories while limiting others to read-only access.

No Permission
: The category will not appear in the category structure for users in this role.
Category-Based Download Permissions
You can override default role-based download settings with category-specific settings:

Deny Downloading
: For a specific role, navigate to the category and enable the
Deny Download
slider.

Allow Downloading
: Use the
Allow Download
slider to permit downloads for a specific category.
